{"id":2567,"date":"2009-02-23T18:42:14","date_gmt":"2009-02-24T02:42:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2009\/02\/23\/california-worst-anti-gun-laws-in-the-country\/"},"modified":"2009-02-23T18:42:14","modified_gmt":"2009-02-24T02:42:14","slug":"california-worst-anti-gun-laws-in-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2009\/02\/23\/california-worst-anti-gun-laws-in-the-country\/","title":{"rendered":"California &#8211; Worst Anti Gun Laws in the Country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This nice piece of eye-candy is illegal in California <strong>UNLESS OWNED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/para-large-rifle.gif' alt='para-large-rifle.gif' class='centered' \/><\/p>\n<p>This morning I read a post over at <a href=\"http:\/\/ballseyesboomers.blogspot.com\">Ballseye&#8217;s Boomers<\/a> where Glenn asks the question, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/ballseyesboomers.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/is-it-something-in-water.html\">Is It Something In The Water<\/a>?&#8221; He quotes a soft-headed Californian who wonders &#8220;<strong>why gun locks couldn\u2019t be enforced in the city \u2013 forcing gang members to lock their guns in order to transport them<\/strong>&#8220;. My reaction is basically in agreement with Glenn&#8217;s observation that people in California are getting more indoctrination than education in the terrible school system here.<\/p>\n<p>That, and the worst (and most ridiculous) gun laws in the USA, <strong>none of which make Californians safer.<\/strong> Consider the following generic restrictions on arms in this state; you will probably find most of them laughable: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Roberti-Roos Assault Weapons Control Act of 1989, its subsequent augmentation in 1999, and the .50 Caliber BMG Regulation Act of 2004 has led to many restrictions on semi-automatic firearms. In addition to a lengthy list of specific firearms that are banned by name, the following firearms are banned by characteristic:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.<\/li>\n<li>A thumbhole stock.<\/li>\n<li>A folding or telescoping stock.<\/li>\n<li>A grenade launcher or flare launcher.<\/li>\n<li>A flash suppressor.<\/li>\n<li>A forward pistol grip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.<\/li>\n<li>A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches [762 mm].<\/li>\n<li>A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.<\/li>\n<li>A second handgrip<\/li>\n<li>A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.<\/li>\n<li>The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.<\/li>\n<li>A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>A folding or telescoping stock.<\/li>\n<li>A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.<\/li>\n<li>Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This nice piece of eye-candy is illegal in California UNLESS OWNED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT.
