Steel Security Doors Milestone

The latest planned improvements milestone is now complete: steel security doors. We probably don’t need these doors for security as much as we want the southwestern style and the ability to open the front door, let the air in and keep the bugs out.

I made a composite image of the doors that the installer put in place yesterday. Left to right, the front entrance, patio entrance and the garage entrance. I have to admit that Damsel knocked this one out of the park. Click on the image to enlarge.

Birdseed Bell

This week, I bought a birdseed bell on sale at the local discount store. I hung it out in one of the trees on the hill behind our house where it almost immediately began to attract a lot of interest among the birds in the area. Here a curved bill thresher is helping itself to some of the tidbits while our cardinal awaits its turn for the treat. Click on the image to enlarge.

What a Load of Bull

Not talking about the left media but really a load of bull – or possibly steer. We saw this drive by during the Wickenburg Gold Rush Days parade this morning. We don’t know how the suspension in this highly modified Cadillac could take the tons of beast down the road without sagging. Click on the image to enlarge.

The Curse of Tut’s Tomb

During the Cairo riots museums were looted and antiquities were destroyed. Ramirez hopes for liberty and freedom for Egyptians, as do we, when a new government comes to power. Egypt is in a very bad location for the west if another totalitarian Islamic government takes over.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration voted “present.”

Shutter Milestone

Today has been a busy day for us. The shutter guys installed our beautiful new shutters as you can see in the slideshow animation. I took photos inside and outside of the knotted wood and the saguaro ribs details on the great room shutters. The wood in the shutters matches our kitchen and bathroom cabinets very closely. You can stop the slideshow by placing your mouse cursor over the images and rolling out to resume.

We also got a landscaping representative out to assess our ground cover and landscaping needs. We will probably move out on landscaping after the contractor finishes the courtyard wall.
