Glenn,

There are a lot of things we will miss about California - the coastline mostly, but family and friends too. We'll surely come back often to visit.

As for green, we have always been desert rats. We had a condo in Palm Desert for years and know what that is all about. In our new domicile, all we need do is go north to the Mogollan Rim for lush, green aspen and conifer forests. Less than a day's drive. Damsel loves the red dirt and the flowers up there. She also loves the Red Bird of Paradise, which grows every summer in Wickenburg and many other places in AZ.

We look forward to your (potential) visit.

You never know when I might show up, neither do I for that matter. It would be nice to stop by to say hello if I get the chance.

Good luck there, I think you will both like it but am sure you will miss all the green of your old home too. Probably just means you will visit green places now and again.

All the best,
GB

We chose Wickenburg for precisely the reasons you gave: low crime rate, away from urban sprawl, 10° cooler than Phoenix on warm days, etc. Everyone we met there seems to be like-minded when it comes to politics and lifestyles.

Escrow should close today on a lot near U.S.60 in Wickenburg. We should be able to occupy our new home this fall. We will be happy to offer you a place to stay anytime you're out our way.

Thanks for the good wishes.

Where did you finally settle on. That could be lots of places but if I remember right you were looking in Wickenburg. If I was lucky enough to move to AZ, I think I would go for higher altitude myself but that is just my preference. Wickenburg is a nice little town and probably unlikely to be overrun by urban sprawl any time soon. I know you two wanted something somewhat removed from all that mess and Wickenburg is probably a great choice along those lines yet while not too far away from it all to enjoy the convenience of some things urban areas have to offer.

Good luck with the new home once it goes up.
