Hey Doug,

It was my first gun too. It's an Ithaca Model 66 20 gauge lever-action single shot. Read our post at The Wandering Minstrel for a little more information:

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Good story about your Dad and your sons. Always glad to hear about families that pass gun ownership from generation to generation.

Hi Capn Bob,

I saw an old posting you had on the Ithaca 20 gauge single shot, break open action shotgun. I had that same gun as a young teenager. It was my first gun I purchased with my father. According to the picture you have, it looks like the identical gun. I sold it about 15 years ago to help pay for a downpayment on a house. My dad died this summer as a former sheriff and president of the state sheriff's association. Now that old gun has much meaning. We used to hunt together and he picked that gun out for me. Could you tell me the model number of that gun? I want to find one and purchase another one so I can pass it on to my four sons. I appreciate your response. I also appreciate your thoughts I have read on your site.

Have a great day.
