"Since these guys were doing their job and had an industrial mishap"

Since when is shooting a man in the back considered an industrial mishap? We have rules for a reason. You can't just shoot people because you feel like it. If you think the sentence is too harsh, they could have been off a LOT easier if they didn't try to cover up what they did. And even after that if they would have just admitted they were wrong and took a plea bargain. It would set a bad precedent if these law enforcement agents are let off the hook after violating rules for shooting someone and trying to cover it up.

As an aside, law enforcement agents don't always get the right man. That's one reason why we have trials before executions. My uncle was killed by police officers before I was born simply because he was driving the same kind of truck an escaping criminal was driving and it happened to be raining (reducing visibility). Sure it was a mistake. But any time you use lethal force, you can't take that mistake back.

Maybe Nelson didn't get the point of this article. We're not asking anyone to change laws nor are we disputing the facts in the case.

Since these guys were doing their job and had an industrial mishap, with extenuating circumstances involving the 'testimony' of a felon, we believe that commuted sentences would be fair. The least we can do is to support the guys who protect the border.

Sutton, in his capacity as a United States Attorney, has failed the people in both of these cases since he allowed immunity to illegals rather than prosecuting them for their crimes.

Here are the facts: Two agents shot a man in the back. This act was illegal under current law. These men were tried by a Jury and found guilty.

Sutton chose to follow the law instead of public opinion. He should be thanked instead of attacked. If the law is wrong it should be changed by our elected officials, not our public attorneys.
